Learn something new

Lifelong learning from dictionary.com is defined as the provision or use of both formal and informal learning opportunities throughout people’s lives in order to promote the continuous development and improvement of the knowledge and skills needed for employment and personal fulfillment.

In life, personal growth has no finish line, and so one must keep learning.
Lifelong learning is ongoing. It is the self-motivated pursuit of knowledge for personal or career growth. It improves your social life and personal development. Learning is not limited to the classroom with a teacher. Formal education is excellent and be encouraged to get as much of it as you can. However, when it comes to practical living, you need to keep learning to improve. The key is to become a lifelong self-motivated learner. Lifelong learners know that there’s no finish line and recognize that continuous growth is essential, and they find joy in it. You can’t settle with what you already know today; you have to improve daily.

Let’s read, for example, the story of television invention from knowitall.org.

“The word television comes from the Greek prefix tele and the Latin word vision or “seeing from a distance.”

As with most inventions, television’s development depended upon previous inventions, and more than one individual contributed to the development of television, as we know it today. People started experimenting with television during the 19th century. When you ask the question–of who invented television, you may get a few different answers.

Initially, television was available only in black and white, even though experiments with color began in the 1920s; however, you could not buy a color television until 1953.”

Reading this story clearly indicates that the inventors kept on learning to improve the way the television works. Could you imagine that if they didn’t continue to improve on the initial invention, we would still have black and white TVs today?

So you get the point, motivating yourself to learn daily will help you become a better you.

Lifelong learners have habits that include the following:

  • Read daily
  • Actively find opportunities to grow
  • Learn something new and make progress
  • Embrace the challenge to leave their comfort zone
  • Welcome change
  • Take care of their body
  • Have a contagious positive attitude.
