“Life is either an adventure or nothing at all.” ~Helen Keller

The door closed. She was trapped underground in the tube train about 138 feet below street level under the Thames River and 5,318 miles away from home.

It was a beautiful summer, and we were on vacation in London, UK. We had visited all the major tourist attractions on our list and the only place left was the Buckingham Palace.

We descended the escalator and got onto the tube and soon we arrived at our destination.

The train stopped and I stepped out clutching my son, and my 12-year-old daughter was beside me, then I looked around for my 8-year-old daughter. At that moment, the train door closed, and I saw her in front of me. The problem was that she was not on the tarmac, she was shut in right in front of the door inside the train which was about to proceed to the next terminal.

A billion thoughts raced through my mind as I prayed frantically and screamed desperately for the train to open and let my daughter out.

A good Samaritan saw the agony in my face through the glass door and punched the button. The door slides open, and I lunged forward and grabbed my daughter out before the train door closed. I hugged her tightly and said a prayer of thanks to God.

Adventure is defined as an action that involves unknown dangers and risks or an exciting or remarkable experience.

My next adventure was a trip to Niagara Falls.

You see, I am no stranger to the Niagara Falls. I had visited the area at least half a dozen times before but each time I was too nervous to go on the boat ride.

After we survived the ordeal of the underground train ride my courage for adventure grew.

With this new resolve and courage, I sailed on the boat called Maid of the Mist and journeyed behind the falls at 125 feet underground, and stood on the observation deck at the foot of the 13-Storey-Tall World Wonder. You can hear the thundering sound of the Horseshoe Falls. The view was breathtaking, and the experience was remarkably AWEsome!

How about you?

Will you allow the imagined or real dangers of adventure prevent you from venturing into the new and live life to the fullest or will you choose to take steps forward and experience positive change and make memories?

On the one hand, adventure happens to you, on the other hand, you or someone else make the adventure happen. Have you noticed that in life we cannot avoid adventure, but if we intentionally plan our adventures, those will become our memories? These memories we will cherish for a long time.

Planned adventure is unique for everyone. It may involve going on a journey of personal growth, like taking a class, improving a skill, trying something new, or overcoming an obstacle, or a challenge.

However, you see it, the adventure will always happen, make it INTENTIONAL.

Do you notice the adventure that happened to me, I don’t have pictures to show because at that moment I was trying to survive and save my daughter. The adventure I deliberately planned, I have pictures to show, full of fun MEMORIES.

So, I encourage you to take the next step. Choose to live to the full today.

After all, everyday life itself is an ADVENTURE.
