Legacy-2
May 13, 2022What has a Slow Cooker (Crockpot) got to do with Legacy?
To set in motion and leave a legacy, we must start today.
If you want to make a special meal, you decide what to make, get the recipe, and go to the grocery store to gather the ingredients and follow the recipe to cook it. Depending on when you need to cook the meal, you could gather ingredients a month, a week, a day, or a few minutes ahead of time.
For example, the recipe below lists the ingredients for Smoked Turkey and 15-Beans Soup.
1 20-oz Bag 15 Beans Soup
1 14.5-oz Diced Tomatoes
1 Large Onion, diced
1 Turkey Drumstick Smoked
2 Cups Chopped Celery
2 Cups Chopped Carrots
Seasoning
Water
The timeline for gathering ingredients is crucial when you plan to leave a legacy. To build and leave a legacy, you have to start intentionally collecting the ingredients early in life. Create your own legacy list. Start TODAY.
Sample legacy List

etc.
If you want to make a turkey sandwich, you can gather ingredients and make it right away, but to make a Smoked Turkey 15-beans soup, you need to prepare ahead, put it in a crockpot and let it cook for a couple of hours. It's like putting it all together early in the morning and letting it cook all day for Sunday dinner, by which time the house is filled with the smell of fully cooked Soup.
To leave a positive and rich legacy, it's best to have the opportunity to decide early and intentionally so you can live the life you envision and write the Legacy you want to leave and then live it. In other words, begin with the end in mind.
"A life worth living is a life worth recording." ~ Jim Rohn
Sure, life's journey is never free of bumps, detours, or challenges, but as long as you keep at it -develop resilience and a never give up spirit-you will have years loaded with great stories and lessons to share with and leave behind for the next generation.
Like the lingering smell of the delicious Soup, when we enter any situation, we need to get used to asking ourselves, "How do I want to be remembered after I leave here?"
For mothers of teenage daughters, what will you like to teach and equip your daughter with before she graduates from high school and leaves your home to live her adult life?
If your daughter is 11 years old, you have 7 full years to prepare her for life after high school and help her avoid some of the teenage challenges. Perhaps she is already in high school… if she is 14, you have 208 weeks to help guide her choices before she turns 18. If she is 17 years old, it's not too late! You have 52 weeks until she turns 18, and by creating an exceptional plan, you can help her thrive in her decision-making.
Write your Legacy and live it so you can pass it on.
